چکیده

Serological controls for diseases of viral origin in animal production systems and the identification factors associated with infections are decisive elements to establish prevention control measures. The aim this study was serological status Bovine Viral Diarrhea (BVD) Enzootic Leukemia (EBL) viruses Blanco Orejinegro (BON) cattle from Colombia, identify seropositivity. A cross-sectional conducted a total 498 animals all age groups physiological states BON breed were selected, belonging 14 herds located 6 which survey 27 questions conducted. By means chi-square test, possible seropositivity against 2 identified. sample 4 ml blood taken each extract plasma make indirect Elisa tests detect antibodies both pathogens. General 27,1% obtained EBL, finding as inadequate disposition placental tissues after delivery cows non-performance on new entering herd. For BVD, 50,6%, identified having had history disease herd, using semen bulls that not known be free infection. We suggest establishing measures considering infection limit their expansion Colombia.

Persistent bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) infection in cattle herds

Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is a significant pathogen associated with gastrointestinal, respiratory, and reproductive diseases of cattle worldwide. It causes continuous economic losses to the cattle industry primarily due to decreased reproductive performance. The ability of virus to cross the placenta during early pregnancy can result in the birth of persistently infected (PI) calves. P...

Genetic variability in Blanco Orejinegro breed cattle populations in Colombia.

We analyzed population structure and genetic diversity in Blanco Orejinegro Creole cattle with 12 microsatellite markers, genotyping 138 individuals belonging to 7 commercial and 3 conservation herds. These markers showed a high level of polymorphism; 171 alleles were identified. The mean number of alleles per locus was 5.63 (3.82-6.58). The total number of alleles per marker was 14.2 and range...

The first study of bovine immunodeficiency virus (BIV) and bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) co- infection in industrial herds of cattle in two provinces of Iran

BIV is a well-known bovine immunosup-pressive cause, but its pathogenesis has not been well characterized. It seems that it is possible that cofactors such as co- infection with other bovine viral pathogens may play a role in enhancing the pathogenesis of BIV infection; BVDV also has immunosuppressive effects. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was determination of possible correlation between BI...
